Our Grand Tour of Morocco can be started either in Marrakech, Rabat or Tangier. Also, it can be customized depending in the length of your vacation in Morocco.
Commence your journey by meeting us at the airport or your accommodation. Visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque before transferring to Rabat, the administrative capital of Morocco. Immerse yourself in the charm of Rabat by exploring its most renowned landscapes and historical sites.
After a delightful breakfast in Rabat, embark on a scenic drive to Asilah. Discover this enchanting seaside city, adorned with whitewashed houses, vibrant colors, serene beaches, and a laid-back atmosphere. Asilah, a resort city, is a haven for holidaymakers, offering a range of hotels and restaurants featuring diverse and delectable cuisines. Don't miss the annual Asilah Arts Festival held in August.
Explore Tangier, the gateway to the Strait of Gibraltar, blending Muslim, Jewish, and Christian cultures. Begin at Colline de Bella-Vista for a panoramic view, then delve into the medina with its bustling bazaars (Souks), cafes, and a Spanish church. Visit the Grand Mosque, the kasbah, and indulge in a traditional Moroccan lunch. The day concludes with a visit to the Musée d’Art Contemporain to admire impressive works of art.
Following breakfast, journey southward to Chefchaouen, the famed "Blue City" of Morocco. Traverse Asilah, enjoying breathtaking views along the Rif Mountains. Upon arrival, explore the kasbah museum within the medina, showcasing antique weapons, musical instruments, and photographs. Delight in a panoramic view of the city from the museum's rooftop, followed by lunch in a local restaurant and an exploration of the vibrant Souk.
After breakfast, depart for the historical site of Volubilis, the second-largest Roman city ruins globally, followed by a visit to Moulay Idriss with a panoramic view of Volubilis. Continue to Meknes for lunch, exploring El Hedim square, the Museum Dar Jamaï, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In the evening, head to Fes for dinner and an overnight stay.
Discover the rich heritage of Fes as you visit iconic sites such as the Tomb of the Merinids, Bou Inania Medersa, Royal Palace gate, and Al Qaraouine University. After a medina lunch, explore the wonderful Attarine museum and the Neijarin Fountain.
Embark on a journey to Midelt, passing through the picturesque Ifrane and the Cedar forests of Azrou. Lunch in Midelt precedes the drive to Erfoud, a town of fossils and dates, through Tizi n Talghamet pass and Errachidia, concluding with dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.
Depart for the desert town of Merzouga, experiencing the Sahara Desert's beauty. En route, explore Erissani's Souk and settle into a bivouac or hotel near the towering dunes. Explore the desert, savor local cuisine, and embark on an unforgettable camel ride to capture the sunset from atop the golden sand dunes.
After breakfast in Merzouga, journey to Todra Gorges via Alnif, known for its remarkable fossils. Traverse the rugged terrain in a 4x4, admire the high cliffs of Todra Gorges, and enjoy lunch. Continue to Skoura, the "Oasis of One Thousand Kasbahs," for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Explore Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO-listed fortified city and the ground for several cinematic masterpieces, such as Sodom And Gomorrah (1963), Oedipus Rex (1967), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), The Message (1976), Jesus of Nazareth (1977), Gladiator (2000), and Game Of Thrones.. Stroll through the Berber village, visit Kasbah Taourirt, and pass through Tizi n Tichka pass. Arrive in Marrakesh for dinner and an overnight stay.
Discover the cultural and historical treasures of Marrakesh, visiting the old medina, Majorelle Gardens, Koutoubia Mosque, El Bahia Palace and of course Jamaa El Fena square with its shops, medieval-style story-tellers, snake charmers and drama in progress. Pass by La Mamounia Hotel Garden, featured in Alfred Hitchcock's film "The Birds."
Enjoy a leisurely day in Marrakesh, exploring the cuisine, shops, bazaars, and experiencing the growing art scene. Consider a visit to Moroccan hammams and spas for relaxation or indulge in shopping for diverse handicrafts.
Conclude your adventure in Morocco with a transfer to Marrakech International Airport.
Your tour will conclude in San Francisco on Day 8 of the trip. There are no activities planned for this day so you're free to depart at any time. We highly recommend booking post-accommodation to give yourself time to fully experience the wonders of this iconic city!
Day 1 of this tour is an arrivals day, which gives you a chance to settle into your hotel and explore Los Angeles. The only planned activity for this day is an evening welcome meeting at 7pm, where you can get to know your guides and fellow travellers. Please be aware that the meeting point is subject to change until your final documents are released.
Airport transfers are not included in the price of this tour, however you can book for an arrival transfer in advance. In this case a tour operator representative will be at the airport to greet you. To arrange this please contact our customer service team once you have a confirmed booking.
This tour has an age range of 12-70 years old, this means children under the age of 12 will not be eligible to participate in this tour. However, if you are over 70 years please contact us as you may be eligible to join the tour if you fill out G Adventures self-assessment form.
